THE CITÉ

The Cité Internationale is composed of a business zone (Convention Centre, offices, hotels, restaurants...), cultural and leisure facilities (museum, cinemas, casino), as well as a residential area (shops, kindergarten,...). In 2006, the Cité Internationale - with the addition of a 3000 seat Amphitheatre , a new luxury hotel, a residential hotel, new offices, shops and restaurants - will form one of the largest convention and exhibition complexes in Europe.

THE SITE

The Cité Internationale represents the successful culmination of one of Lyon's most ambitious projects. Housed on a 20 hectare site , bordered by two of the city's most beautiful natural features, the Rhône river and the Parc de la Tête d'Or, the quality of the architecture, and also the design of the public spaces, had to be equal to that of the surroundings. To achieve this qualitative goal, Renzo Piano, one of the greatest contemporary architects, and Michel Corajoud, the renowned landscaper, were chosen to realise the project.
